First International Conference On SFC Focuses On Green Chemistry

The Green Chemistry Group, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating chemists throughout the world and promoting the benefits of environmentally friendly research & development processes, will host its first conference. The 1st International Conference on SFC will be held in Pittsburgh, September 23-25, 2007. James Waters, founder of Waters Associates (now Waters Corporation) and a leader in the field of chromatography, serves as Chairman of the conference. Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC), a burgeoning technology used primarily in the pharmaceutical industry, is the focus of the conference. Speakers and delegates interested in this growing field are welcome to attend.

Members of the organizing committee for the conference include scientists and scholars from Amgen, Merck, Regis Technologies, Waters Corporation, University of Texas, Nanyang Technological University and Thar Instruments. Mr. Waters commented, "We are pleased with the tremendous response to the conference. Several sponsors have made commitments and more plan to join us in the coming weeks."

The conference will be comprised of an exhibition, scientific program and workshops. Speakers from at least three continents will introduce and discuss new developments, applications and economics of SFC methods development, purification, high-speed analysis and other advancements. Dr. David Pinkston from Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals will conduct the Plenary Session on Monday, September 24.

Grants have been made available for travel expenses to the conference for students and professors as a courtesy of Amgen. Conference registration fees range from $295 for professionals to $95 for students. Please contact info@greenchemistrygroup.org for more details about the conference.
